Julie and Julia is a recently released movie based on two true stories. It depicts events in the early life of Julia Child, famous American chef, author, and TV personality most famous for introducing French cooking to Americans with her massive bestselling cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking (first published in 1961) and the first to host a popular cooking show in 1963. Her life is contrasted with modern day Julie Powell who began a Web Blog documenting her daily effort to cook all 524 recipes in Julia’s famous book in 365 days.
