What are your favorite types of endings?
- we all get requests to come up with endings esp. for covers that have fade outs etc. I have a list of ending formats I usually draw from, but sometimes yo've got to be creative.. here's a few:
- the hold note roll on a slightly open HH then a chopping flam on the snare & kick (i.e., the end of TOP What Is Hip) - the hold note with the big fill, ending with a sharp short cymbal crash. - the big tom roll followed by a sharp snare flam, a quick pause then a full band hold note with cymbal roll. - the hold note followed by a tom kick flam punch.
One of the wildest endings I've heard (or maybe excessive Lol) is Kickstart my Heart by Motley Crue.

One of my favorite ways to end a song is to answer the band with my drums in between a three or four chord ending. The exchange between the chords and drums has got to be one of the most exciting of endings!
