fellow drum teachers. are there any things you find yourself saying often to pupils ... so often that you would consider putting them on a poster in your teaching rooms just to save time.
here's my list:
DRUMMING GUIDLEINES
- Your toes must never leave the top of the bass pedal board. - Sit up straight. - Try to always end a fill with the left hand (if you are right handed) - Always play the bass drum when hitting a crash. - Always repeat at least five times anything you’ve played correctly when practicing.

...and when students reach the stage when they start to make their own creative decisions (especially when improvising): "trust your instincts."

That sort of thing is what I tell my students on a daily basis - the building up of confidence cannot be overemphasised for any teacher!
