HI!!! Ross "toothpick factory" L's BIO!!

Hi everyone, this is me! Glad to have found the forum!

INTRODUCTION

MY NAME: Ross

MY LOCATION: Aberdeen, Scotland, UK

MY OCCUPATION: Currently cramming drums during a break from the Oil Industry!

MY BAND: None currently but OHHH its only a matter of TIME!! I need some 'live' in my veins!

MY FIRST INSPIRATION: Being in a marching band when I was 10 and watching the drum section (I was a trumpeter)

MY INSPIRING/FAVORITE DRUMMER: First drummer I wanted to emulate was Roger Taylor from Queen. Now my favourite drummers are too many to go into, but Gadd, Danny Carey (from the band Tool), Dave Weckl, Akira Jimbo and of course – Tiger Bill Meligari !! (can I have my free DVD now? )

MY MUSIC STYLES: Metal, rock, latin, jazz, swing, bebop, funk, hip hop .. everything really!

MY SUPPORT/MENTOR: Working on this but I have a tutor here in Scotland and some great people on this board right here who seem very helpdul!

MY STORY: I played semi pro with many bands from the age of 12 until 21. The band I was in (in various member incarnations) from 16-21 split up and a member from that band went on to form Hundred Reasons (a UK nu-metal act). I was always self taught, but have recently picked the drums back up with a tutor who is taking me through swing, latin, jazz etc etc. I have been in the oil industry for 3 years and want to get back to my drumming professionally and am in the process of redefining myself musically and testing the waters of professional drumming! Ideally I would like a permanent gig but want to see what the session / jobbing world holds – and what else might be out there! I was known for a very visual and high energy style, with lots of passion and aggression and a 'starting above the head' moeller backbeat that lead to a lot of broken sticks! (hence toothpick factory )

MY PICS - GEAR – I currently play a Premier Genista four piece kit which I suppose is ageing a bit now, poor thing. I am planning to buy a new kit, hopefully a Yammie Maple Absolute! YEAH!!
