I don't know what this means - is it your favorite recorded rythmn track and that you wish you were the one that came up with it? If that's the case, then there are none because all my favorite tracks are 'favorites' because they are innovative and stuff that I wouldn't have thought of in the first place. What is Hip is a great example of that.. |

Quote: For me, it varies. Sometimes it's checking out what the drummer played, and thinking, "Man, I wish I'd thought of that" (or even, "I wish I could play it just that way!" - it might be an appreciation of a simple part played "just so," like Manu on "Soul Cages" or JR with Rufus). Other times, it's simply acknowledging that the whole tune - the whole arrangement - is so great, it'd be a joy to play it. Each one of the five I listed are a mix of both mindsets. |

Drum parts I don't envy. Those belong to the cats who played them and the producers who tweaked them. Tunes....Now that's different. Right of Spring..CTI...Hubert Lawes Anything that Sting has cut since he stopped working with Police. The Welcome Album...Santana. Tutu...Miles Sound Track to the movie Robin Hood. Especially the Brian Adams theme song. Take 5 any version by anyone The Black Page Green eyed Lady God Bless the Child....Blood Sweat & Tears arrangement. The Thrill is Gone....B.B. King. Bump City Album....Tower. Talk to your daughter...Robben Ford. As a matter of fact just about anything Robben has recorded. The list can go on until there is no space left on this site. |

OK, I am looking at this as a fantasy. I am the drummer who came up with the part and recorded it. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen Let It Be - Beatles Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas Tom Sawyer - Rush Kashmir - Led Zep Like I said, definitely a fantasy. But boy do I wish I had been the drummer on ANY of them. |

Sunshine of your love - Cream. Just the musicality and power. Take 5 - Brubeck. The groove and dynamics. L.A. Woman - The Doors. Living loving maid - Zeppelin. Great groove. (actually, most of Bonham's stuff I love) Fire - Hendrix. Love the energy put into the song by Mitch Mitchell. |

I like this question, here are my picks and why: One (Lars Ulrich/Metallica) - inspired me to play double bass The Art of Shredding (Vinnie Paul/Pantera) - inspired me to play double bass well Fistful of Steel (Brad Wilk/Rage Against the Machine) - This guy has such a great groove When The Levee Breaks (Bonham/Zepp) - Again, serious groove Home (Mike Portnoy/Dream Theater) - Showed me the potential of double bass drumming as used in fills |

I don't know which one of my "fave five" I'm going to bounce to make room for it, but I've got to add Levon Helm, on "King Harvest" by The Band. |
