Taye Drums

I bought a Taye Maple drum-set at last year's PASIC and can't say enough about the quality of the drums. They are easy to tune and have a great sound. I think they are one of the best buys on the market today.

I picked up a set of the Taye ProX at the end of last year. I love them! The tone is fantastic and they are so easy to tune. You get a lot for the money!

Re: Taye Drums

Now that I am officially a Taye endorser, I have to add my 2 cents to this review as well. I first played a Taye drumset a number of years ago and was immediately impressed not only by the sound of the drums themselves, but by the innovative and incredibly solid hardware. When the store owner asked me what I thought the drumset cost, I literally guessed thousands more than the actual price.

From the standpoint of sound quality, construction, and value for the money, Taye Drums simply can't be beat.

Re: Taye Drums

To continue the review...I just picked up a few Taye stands and a new 14x7 Tour Pro Snare Drum. The snare drum sounds great! No dampening needed at this point. I put a powerstroke 4 on the drum and I'm quite happy with the sound. I did swap out the snares for a purecussion snare with half of the snares removed. (I really don't like snare buzz). The drum has a honey amber finish. It's beautiful. There is a picture of it with the set on my website. www.jeffkozol.com.

Hey cats, what else would you expect from Ray Ayotte.I'm proud to be a Canadian when drum designer names come up, because the three best and most innovative designers and builders are Canadian. Ron Dunnett (Dunnett drums),Paul Mason (Tempus drums) and Ray Ayotte (Taye drums).Being sort of labelled as the also ran cousins of the big beast south of our border, we just try much harder. Same with our drummers by the way. Also our peace keeping!!!

Not to go off topic, but they also make some pretty good beer too.

Re: Taye Drums

I am considering going with a set of Taye ProX or Rock Pro's after I sell my DW's, everything I hear about the Tayes is great. I have one question though, are the birch/basswood shells and bearing edges the same on the Rock Pro, ProX, and TourPro? While these drums are all very reasonably priced, there seems to be quite a jump from the Rock Pro and ProX up to the TourPro. I'm wondering if the extra price is due to the nice laquer finishes on the TourPro, if so that is cool, because I'm looking for a gigging kit and definitely want to go with a wrap for this kit. Thanks!

Re: Taye Drums

Can any of you Taye drummers advise me if it is possible to order a "custom set up" (by this I mean sizes) as their official website is confusing to me on this subject?

Hey Subdidvisions, I have found that there is a 5 star dealer that sells the individual components. I'm not sure if it is cool to mention the shop here. I will try to send you a message with the name of the shop.

That would be great, Thank You!!
I thought with all the Taye players on this thread that someone would have some info on it. Im new on here, so Im not sure how much this forum is used?? I have been looking into Taye and like their drums. I am looking however, to put together a set up thats custom to my needs and sounds and was hoping I would be able to pick and choose sizes outside of buying a basic set up and adding onto it.

Any info would be appreciated.
