Question on ranges of a few marimba solos

Hi I'm looking to order some marimba solos, I've currently worked on Rain Dance, Yellow after the Rain, and Aeolian Fantasy in percussion course Studio I. I have a 4 1/3 (low A) octave marimba (5 at the school) however the music i would like to purchase would be more of me working on my 4 1/3 octave marimba.

I was wondering If anyone knew the ranges of these songs, or recommend songs specificly :

Six Suites for Cello, J.S Bach
Two Mexican Dances, Gordon Stout
Dream of the Cherry blossoms, Keiko Abe
Concertino for Marimba, Paul Creston
October Night, Michael burrit

Monograph IV, Richard Gripson
Rhythm Song, Paul Smadbeck
Etudes I, II, III, Paul Smadbeck

Re: Question on ranges of a few marimba solos

A few off the top of my head:

Two Mexican Dances, Gordon Stout - 4.0
Dream of the Cherry blossoms, Keiko Abe - I think it's 5.0, with options for playing on a 4.3
Concertino for Marimba, Paul Creston - 3.5
Sea Refractions, Mitchell Peters - definitely no more than a 4.3
Tambourin Chinois, Fritz kresiler - 3.5 (at least, the George Green arrangement)
Monograph IV, Richard Gripson - 4.0 or 4.3
Rhythm Song, Paul Smadbeck - 4.3
Etudes I, II, III, Paul Smadbeck - I believe they fit a 4.3
Michi, Keiko Abe - 4.3
Frogs, Keiko Abe - 4.0

And abit harder level:

Astral Dance, Gordon Stout - originally done for a 4.5, not sure of the current edition
Modern Japanese Marimba Pieces, Vol. 1+2, Keiko Abe(ed.) - 4.3
Etude for a Quiet Hall, Chrsitopher Deane - 4.3
Footpath, Dave Samuels - 4.3
Suite for Marimba, Fissinger - 3.5
Two movements for marimba, Tanaka - 4.3 (IIRC)
Variations on Lost Love, David Maslanka - 4.3

Not to be negative, but...while we here at the forum are glad to help, I'm curious why your teacher at University doesn't have some of this information. Many of these pieces have been standard marimba literature for decades.

Re: Question on ranges of a few marimba solos

I'll actually have to be doing alot of those songs for the studio course. I usually have too many questions to ask him and he has too little time so alot of question i tend to post on forums that I don't think I need a private lesson for.

I appreciate all the help that you've done for me James, thanks a ton!
