Cleaning wraps

Just purchased used Pacific CX by dw. Need to clean jet black wrap. What is best to use on this type of finish?

Re: Cleaning wraps

Plastic wrapped drumshells and also plexiglass-type shells clean up really well with Windex. [Cool]

NOT for use on wood shell, lacquer-finished drums.

Howdy Gary, Hope you like the new drums. Just remember to Never use course paper towels or anything abrasive on the finishes. They will leave swirls in that black, you can never get out. You can actually scratch the finish with a paper towel.
I agree with Tiger and have used Windex for many years and the new Windex that is good for counter tops is great.
I have very often used Boat Cleaner in a spray bottle, preferably by Star Brite although Simoniz makes a good one.
This is especially good if the drums are fairly dirty and haven't been cleaned well lately. It is great on plastic, metal, fiberglass or wood. Of course I use it on the bass boat so I always have it around.
Good Luck

Re: Cleaning wraps

Jet black wrap, i have it on my kit and it attracts dust like no other. Iv'e got used to it and the dust layer matches my metallic black finish snare,if you don't look too hard.
If i ever get an urge to clean it (usually for a show, never for a pub gig) i use a very soft cloth and gently wipe it. Heavy duty cleaning use same cloth but with a little mild soap and then dry off. That usually gets rid or the drool, nicotene, sawdust, beer spills etc.

Re: Cleaning wraps

Hello

I use Simple Green. It takes off almost anything and does not harm the wrap in any way. I have black wrap sets from Ludwig Slingerland and Rogers.

As a good way to reduce dust buildup I use car wax. Make sure it is carnuba based as I have found this the best at letting dust slide off.

To clean and maintain your Chrome I use Mothers Chrome and Aluminium Cleaner. It is a great product. I do suggest care in applying it to hardware still attached to the drums.

I hope this helps

Terry

Re: Cleaning wraps

No matter what I used on my glossy black Mapex kit - Windex or other glass cleaners, soft cotton cloth, etc. - it ended up scratching the finish or putting fine swirls in it. [Mad]

So I took off the black wrap and put on a white satin flames wrap.

Now I am [Smile]
