Well, I have 2 basic options.
#1, buy off ebay, #2, go to a store in canada called " St.John's" music.
I have not gotten any price quotes from St.John's but I will get some on friday, Im looking to spend between 1 grand to 2 grand canadian.
heres 2 on ebay right now, what's your opinions.
I've been playing xylophone for alittle while at my school, but I'm looking to go to university, and I am really interested in picking up 4 mallet playing. I love the xylophone and would love to have a marimba, so here are the two links. Also, your tips on what to look for would be nice, thanks!!

I couldn't get the first auction page to open up. If I remember correctly, however, the M31 has synthetic bars - or, at the very least, it has narrow bars throughout the entire range of the instrument. Of those two, assuming the Deagan is in good condition, I think the Deagan would be a better purchase.

Yes, James is right, the M-31 is a synthetic (Kelon) narrow bar 4 octave instrument. It is the marimba I own, because it was the only one I could afford at the time. I think now you may have more options with some of the Padouk marimbas being sold now.
Of the 2, the Deagan is a much better instrument, but is also only 4 octaves, so, depending on what you want to be able to do on it, could be somewhat limiting.
Don't know anything about St. John's music, but it would be extremely rare for any mortar and brick music store to have a marimba in stock. Check www.malletshop.com

Well, the cheapest marimba 4 octaves, full scale however, was 4.5 grand canadian.
