Many of us have seen Buddy Rich on shows years ago like The Tonight Show. Any others?
How about other drummers?
Art Verdi used to play the character of "Paradiddle Joe" on the Uncle Floyd Show.
Jotan Afanador has been on the Tom Arnold Show and others?
What other Drummers have you seen - And on which Shows?

Danny,
I remember seeing a guy on the tonight show years ago. He also worked as an actor on a TV show. It may have been a small role on the Rockford Files. Hey I just remembered his name!!
Charlie Callis. He could definately play and he did a sit down comedy bit on the drums. This was very long ago when 777 was still young and fairly innocent. That would be a great clip to see.

Triple 7,
Interesting! Rockford Files sounds vaguely familiar. We should try to get a clip of this guy and post it!

It would be a great clip. It's from the tonight show and I doubt there would be anyway to get it.

When Carson was on I could tell by the first opening bars whether it was Ed Shaughnessy or Louie Bellson subbing. Same song but they each brought their own groove to it. The Dean Martin Show featured a who’s who of jazz drummers from week to week. Although I think Krupa was the only one he introduced. The Smothers Brothers had cutting edge acts on in the sixties. And unlike many of the shows at the time they performed live. This show featured the infamous segment where Keith Moon overloaded his kicks with gun powder and blew himself and his drums off the stage. When I was young I was impressed by Dave Clark on the Ed Sullivan Show until I found out they were faking it to track music. I later found out a studio drummer played Dave’s parts on their records. Ah... innocence lost. Midnight Special from the seventies sometimes featured live acts. I think Three Dog Night were on a few times. I always thought Floyd Sneed played tasteful grooves. I also remember a shortlived summer replacement show that featured Buddy Rich singing, dancing and doing comedy skits.

I’ve been searching the web looking for information on the Buddy Rich show I mentioned in the above post. I’ve found vague references to a Dean Martin summer replacement that might have been it. I’d love to see it again because as a teenager I was so impressed by a scene where there was a snare and sticks sitting on the stage. I think the show was mostly improv and someone said “drum roll please.” Buddy picked up the sticks with matched grip and laid down the smoothest buzz roll I’d ever heard. Of course with my fading memory and my youthful exuberance at the time this might not be what happened, but I’d like to see it again.
Does anyone else remember this?

I think I may have found it. It was a Jackie Gleason summer replacement from 1967 called "Away We Go." The Links I've found to this show are actually for a childrens show of the same name. There's a complaint on Amazon because the site claims it's the Buddy Rich video and it's not. I guess I'll have to dig deeper.
