Chorales

Hello all...

I am in need of ideas for chorales. I do quite a bit of playing in retirement homes, children's concerts, and the like. In the past I have played A Little Prayer by Evelyn Glennie and a transcription of Claire de Lune. I am looking for any other similar chorales. (About 5 min long) I don't want anything that is not clearly tonal, and would prefer modern marimba compositions as opposed to any of Bach's 100's of four part chorales. I love Bach, but I already keep a rotation of several of his pieces in my repertoire.

Any ideas are, as always, greatly appreciated.

A few come to mind immediately for me:

- the two slow movements of the Suite For Marimba by Fissinger

- two pieces by Gordon Stout, Elegy and Reverie (both written as "study pieces" to help prepare for the slow movements of the Fissinger, actually).

All four strike me as being very accessible to non-musicians - very easy to listen to, which I understand is an issue playing in retirement homes.

Thanks, I hadn't even thought of the Stout pieces, but I'll give all four a shot. On to Steve Weiss's website...
