INTRODUCTION
MY NAME: Dave Becher
MY LOCATION: Long Island, NY. USA
MY OCCUPATION: Small business owner.
MY BAND: None.
MY WEBSITE: None.
MY FIRST INSPIRATION: Carl Palmer of 'Emerson, Lake and Palmer'.
MY INSPIRING/FAVORITE DRUMMER: Buddy Rich.
MY MUSIC STYLES: Progressive Rock/Jazz Fusion.
MY SUPPORT/MENTOR: Support: Me. Mentor: Self taught from multiple drummer discographies.
MY STORY: Started drumming in the early 70's. Played in a few garage/party bands, but never professionally. Fibes set kept getting bigger and bigger--moving it harder and harder. Stopped auditioning and jamming out because of that. Worked for a living OUTSIDE the drumming field as: a roadie, landscape business owner, single-ply commercial roofer. Got tired of laboring. Went to college in my 30's. Then went to work for local government Social Services agency as a CPS (Child Protective Services) Investigator. Left government after seeing enough child abuse for a lifetime. Current owner of heating oil business. Preparing to retire. Laying plans to play out professionally, (finally)--freed from the worries and constraints of the necessity to make immediate good money for survival! Currently in the process of compiling a drum video resume, (on YouTube), encompassing solos; musical expression of all types of music from jazz to classical; Plus a physical drum training series to benefit (hopefully) other drummers from my 35 years playing/practicing experience.
MY PICS - GEAR - AUDIO/VIDEO Gigantic antique copper double bass FIBES set with 17 drums, all Paiste cymbals and bells, and DW 9000 pedals; Chrome Pearl jazz set with one rack and two floor toms, double bass (fiberglass shells), all Paiste cymbals; Roland TD-12 V-drum set with 5 tom pads and 3 cymbal pads. DW double bass pedal.
MY AUDIO - None.
MY VIDEO - Various solos, (warm-up, regular, 4-drummer tribute, and anthology; 5-part Drum Training Series; Two posted, (so far), musical covers. The first covers a modern 'Prog'-Dream Theater segment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRmaWqN1yXU ; the other covers 'Classical Progressive Rock'-ELP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSzUrU02Zlk
I have completed a 'Classical' entry on Mozart (to be posted shortly), and am working on a 'Jazz Fusion' entry by 'Return To Forever'. Hope to finish a 'Funk' entry by Billy Cobham, and a straight 'Jazz' entry (by Webb, Krupa or Rich) before the heating season begins. Then will advertise as "Drummer Available".
Thanks to Mike, (awfull drummer) for steering me to this forum. Hello to all! (Thanks for indulging me!)

I went to Fort Salonga on a school exchange in 1990, many years ago, but I remember going on a fishing trip somewhere on the south of Long Island as well.

Fort Salonga is the next town over! Small world, eh? Fishing trip on the south shore? Does Captree ring a bell? They charter alot of fishing trips out of there.
