Is it just me, or does the forum take forever to load?
It seems to take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes just to open a page. Sometimes it doesn't open at all.
I have a fast DSL hi speed connection.. and I only run into this on this site. This has been happening for sometime now i.e., off and on for weeks or months; but lately its been getting worse - like all the time.
Sometimes if I hit Stop Loading it will display the page.. maybe something on the page is hanging it up?
Anyone else find this or just me?

No problem here either, tea bag. And MY computer seems unusually slow at everything else.

I get the same slowness as Teabag. Once loaded navigation is good and fast, but for some reason getting to the first screen takes quite a while.

Well, I've had my main hard drive go down for the count and also my BIOS/CMOS configuration mess up so I'm waiting for a pal of mine to come over and re-configure my computer. Can't get the thing to read any drives but this little 6 gig one I'm on right now. However. This one has Linux Mandriva Gnome on it and it loads up like a maniac. Didn't have any problem when the MS hard drive was running either. Maybe you need to have something like Norton System works go over your platform and afterwards run a speed disk defragger on it or something. Could be you're loaded down with too many old files in the sound and graphics or something. Since I started on computers with small capacity Macs and PCs I learned to make sure I kept most of my work on disk instead of letting stuff stay in the machine. I also make sure that programs I don't use very much are turned off.

I did a bit of digging and I came across some reports that some sites aren't optimized to work with IE7, which is what I'm using.. but I suspect it may have something to do with IE7 itself. I re-installed it a few weeks ago but it made no difference. It also crashes frequently and sometimes hangs after downloading a file - it gets to 99% then says "IE must quit now'..
I've checked for any unnecessary Add-ons (have none) and have active firewall and A/V software. Methinks I need to repair IE and XP..
Mandriva.. have you tried Ubuntu? It's pretty good also. Of course Firefox is great too - I use it more often these days as it doesn't pop-up the endless "Microsoft doesn't recognize this certificate. Are you sure you want to proceed?" and then.. "Are you really sure??" and then.. "you need update 5003 to patch a gaping security hole!"
Egad.
P.S. Don't you love the way Microsoft has taken the approach of blaming everyone else now when stuff doesn't work? i.e. Sites not optimized for IE7.. broken drivers in Vista because they don't follow MS guidelines.. etc.. Sad but typical.

So how does this site come up with Fire Fox? When my MS hard drive was working LOL, I still used Fire Fox for Microsoft. It was always faster. Ubuntu? Never used it. I'm just using this little Linux 6G hard drive until I get my other drives running again including my ROM drives. XP seems to have taken out my CD ROM driver when I was re-loading a fresh copy. Can't even get my computer to load that anymore. Some idiot who works for a small computer company royally messed by CMOS and I had nothing all day. I went in and got the thing to auto detect at least this C drive for Linux. It's loading this site like a champ.

Firefox works mostly great. I've run into problems loading from my work computer as well (and I use IE7 there). I know that sometimes I tried both browsers with no luck - so I put it down to server maintenace.. but I think my main culprit is IE7. Funny, since I made this post, it's been working like a charm ever since..
Re your CDROM deive.. did you try autodetecting it using Add/Remove Harware wizard and XP installing drivers for it?
