Sounds like a nice set-up for rock - how do you find those hi-hats? I've heard some really good things about them.

Congratulations, Pywacket! Beautiful drums, and as you know, I'm partial to your brand of cymbals as well!

Actually, I should clarify that, on OTHER sites I go by the name of PaistePlayer. My mistake.

Py, That's sweet looking gear. Have you always had the second floor tom to your left? It's a set up I'd like to try

Very cool!!!
I'd love to see a "bird's eye" or "driver's seat" view of the kit as well.

I've had the 602's for about ten years now and wouldn't change them as main hats for rock. The sound edge are a more recent addition and work really well for subtle playing with a nice crisp chick and a good bounce.

Thanks Stuart. I started using the 18" floor on the left when I got the DW's! To be honest I'm still getting used to it being there and find it a little awkward to get to when playing a groove with my natural right handed lead but (and I'm working hard on this) when leading with my left in an open playing position it's right there next to the hats and much easier to play.

Thank you James. We start a tour on Monday so I'll take my camera and get some driver seat shots on the gigs. I'll post some when we get back end of Novemeber.

I had the Pearl kit for some time A.D. but though I tried almost every head on the market, was never totally happy with them. I was thinking of getting a Sonor a while back but changed my mind after playing a kit at a clinic and not liking them as much as I thought I would. Then I got to use a DW and fell in love. Warm, Loud and punchy. Luvly jubbly. The only other kit I've found with the same quality of sound was a Pearl Reference supplied by the promoter at one of the shows we did on a recent trip to Australia. They were absolutely brilliant and a dream to play!

The hi hat is a pearl H200 two legged model and the kick pedal is a Big Dog pro double. I was lucky enough to be given the Big Dogs when I did a clinic sponsored by them and Sonor. I normally use a dbl Iron Cobra, and the Big Dig's are kept as spares, but when that shot was taken I was waiting for spare parts to arrive from Tama. I've also recently changed the heads to Evans G2 coated.

I love the Cobras and use them on stage etc but the Big Dogs are real nice too. They are smooth and easy to adjust. Only complaint would be with the beaters. Bit too big and clunky for me so I replaced them. Very good pedal and reasonably priced (for now). I also use a BD remote static hi hat and that's excellent too.

Lovely! Clean, uncluttered...looks like it would be a blast to play!
BTW, the third photo in your photobucket album (the shot showing you and your cymbals, taken from the hi-hat side) is classic.

Hey Py, was just checking out 'Budgie' on YouTube, (hat tip to AwfullDrummer). Is that the same band from the 70's? Are you an original member, and did you play on the 'Old Grey Whistle Test' back in the 70's? (I can't tell if that guy drumming with all the hair is you or not!)

Thanks for the comments guys.
17 Yes, it's the same band formed in 68. I joined in 74 and my first album was the bands fourth, Bandolier, released in 75. That is indeed me on the Whistle Test vid. Back then I had a thick mop of hair and a 28" waist. As your body gets older you gain some you loose some I guess.

How do you like your Free floating brass shell? How does it differ from the maple shelled one? Im curious...I play a maple shell free floating and was considering buying a brass shelled one to add to the kit. And am I ever jealous...that is one Beautiful Kit! Congrats!
