TEMPLATE - About You
      #39693 - Mon Jul 16 2007 02:02 AM (69.34.62.67)

Following is a template that contains the structure that I'd like you to follow for your own About You profile. Feel free to add as many images and audio/video clips and in any order you wish. I just thought it would be cool if you kept the beginning questions/answers the same so that all of our profiles will be standardized at least for the up front info. If you have any problems or questions, don'te hesitate to ask me!

Before you get started, you need to know that any pictures or audio/video clips you post of yourself must already be on the Web somewhere in order to appear here. This had to be done to save expensive server space. If you don't already have a free Web space to upload your info to, there are plenty of free Web sites available including MySpace.com and Bravenet.com.

Here's a template that you can follow:

JMFDrums [Re: TigerBill]
      #41126 - Tue Dec 11 2007 03:15 PM (71.201.10.237)

MY NAME: Jeff aka JMFDrums

MY LOCATION: IL (north suburb of Chicago)

MY OCCUPATION: I have 10 drum students and am the session drummer at Music Workshop; I also work as a Compliance Officer for a small mortgage company and am studying to become a high school teacher.

MY BAND: I am in two bands and I play at Willow Creek Community Church. I play for Jade Sholty www.jadesholty.com who is a contemporary Christian artist, and Second Time Around www.secondtimearoundmusic.com who plays classic rock 60's to 90's. I also play with Hunter Prendergast, who also attended Berklee. We play a bit of jazz, funk, and fusion...we love odd time signatures

MY WEBSITE: I may need to hire Bill for this

MY FIRST INSPIRATION: Bill Bruford followed soon by Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Steve Gadd, and Billy Cobham (Mahavishnu Orchestra). Then followed soon by Peart and a few others.

MY INSPIRING/FAVORITE DRUMMER: That's a hard question since I would say that I am inspired by almost every drummer I see - new and old. Right now, though, I am listening to a lot of Chambers, Lang, Minnemann, Smith, Mayer, Bozzio, Bissonette, and Colaiuta. I try to pick a little something from all of the drummers I listen to and find a way to incorporate it into my style. I am also trying to work TB's exercises into my schedule...it's hard to relearn when there is a great deal of unlearning to do first.

MY MUSIC STYLES: I play everything from Polka, country, and rock to funk, fusion, Latin, and jazz. I am working on my double bass chops so I can start playing on some metal tunes just so I can say I can play that too

MY SUPPORT/MENTOR: I had a vast network of supporters from my music ministry band members to my family and friends. My wife is always telling me to go find a gig so I can make some money...

MY STORY: YOB 1961 in Batavia, NY
Picked up my first set up sticks at the age of seven and have never stopped. I was a Monkeys freak, and as I would watch the TV show at that age I knew Mickey wasn't really playing. I told my mom I could play better than him...
I didn't take my first formal lesson until I was 12. I studied under Jake Jerger all through HS and then went on to study under various mentors, gleaning as much information as I possibly could and making it my own. I have recorded and toured with with Expose, The Rob Zettl Trio, Numbers, Elevate, Second Time Around, and a few other bands. I've also had the privelege of playing drums and percussion for Alvin Slaughter and Darlene Zschech.

MY PICS - GEAR - AUDIO/VIDEO If someone would be so kind as to to explain how to do this, I will start adding them. I have three kits - I play a Pearl Maple kit most of the time, but own a Bison kit, and a Yamaha stage series as well. Since I couldn't find a sponsor I play Sabian, Paiste, and Zildjian...I buy by sound, not manufacturer. I have six different snares drums and use whatever I feel best fits the gig.

MY AUDIO - I use an in-ear headset with an 8 channel mixer for my loops/drum machine, my metronome, and feeds from the band so I can mix my own sound.

MY VIDEO - none to date - but am working on getting a setup for my students so they can take home DVD's of themselves playing.

It's all about ME!!! [Re: TigerBill]
      #45018 - Sun Jun 28 2009 12:46 AM (97.88.241.126)

Name-Jordan Jones

Location-Madison, WI (Actually Monona, but the zip comes up on Mapquest as Madison.)

Occupation-Hotel Night Auditor/Warehouse Shipping/Receiving

My Band-Evangel Life Center Worship Team www.evangellifecenter.com

First Inspiration-Mark Brzezicki

Inspiring/Favorite Drummer-the aforementioned Mr. Brzezicki, Terl Bryant, Steve Brewster, Will Denton

My Musical Styles-all over the map

Support/Mentor-My pastor, a former professional bassist for support, no mentors in particular-I am completely self-taught.

My story-I was asked as a freshman in high school if I wanted to try drums, since my teeny-tiny school band had no drummer. I just basically started playing on that day. I was ready to quit after my senior year, however. I had recieved no training at all, I was just thrown at the set. However, on one fateful day, I heard the introduction to "All Fall Together" on a Big Country ep. From that point on, I was determined to play whenever I could. I started listening to all styles of music and absorbing different players approaches. I still was playing totally by ear, but in college, I had some proper instruction. I still couldn't sight read, but now understood some basic concepts and terminology I wasn't taught in high school. Presently, I still have not had lots of formal training, but am playing with a group of musicians that are just top notch. I plan (at 44 years old) on finally getting myself some dvds and private teaching to improve my reading skills and musicianship. I also have been blessed by the Lord with the ability to pick up and play basically any untuned percussion instrument. I also play djembe, bodhran, congas, bongos and plan on giving the dohl, tabla, and taiko a try before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

MY NAME: Aswin

MY LOCATION: Bangalore, India

MY OCCUPATION: I'm a Software Engineer by profession. I also play guitar occasionally. I love travelling, photography and gaze at the night sky through my telescope.

MY BAND: Twilight Zone. We just started playing together. Just did one gig couple of weeks back. We covered Crazy Train by Ozzy, Cant Stop by RHCP and did one own number called Twilight Zone.

MY WEBSITE: http://www.sticksnbeats.com

MY FIRST INSPIRATION: My first insipiration was watching a close friend of mine practising for a gig. He taught me to hold the sticks and play some basic rudiments. From there on I just got glued to it.

MY INSPIRING/FAVORITE DRUMMER: Hmm..Strangely I have always had a proclivity to all drummers I got an opportunity to watch/hear.
Some of my favourites to date have been John Bonham, Carter Beauford, Mike Portney, Danny Carey, Ulrich, Sean Kinney, Thomas Lang, Gavin Harrison, to name a few.

MY MUSIC STYLES: Rock predominantly and Heavy Metal sometimes. I would love to be able to understand/play progressive rock, funk and jazz styles fluidly someday. Started to play double bass for about 3 weeks now.

MY SUPPORT/MENTOR: I look for inspiration from all the drummers I come across and have been in touch with. Currently I look for support from my current band guitarist. We have always challenged each other
to excede each others boundaries and hope to do so in future too.

MY STORY: Picked up the sticks and bought a simple drum kit in the beginning 2005 when a group of friends decided to start a band and participate in a competition. Although we made a mock of ourselves in that event we stuck as a band and performed
at our college annual fest to become to the first rock band to have performed ever. From there on I furthered my learnings through all the resources I could get my hands and some of them which I have bought.Currently working out some own compositions with
my new band.

MY PICS - GEAR - AUDIO/VIDEO
Havent yet added any pics of my drum kit. I have a Mapex VX Jazz series and I also have a DW Practise Pad Kit.

MY AUDIO / MY VIDEO - Havent done any proper recordings yet. Hope to get some uploaded to my website this year.

MY FIRST INSPIRATION: Ringo Starr, February 9, 1964.

MY INSPIRING/FAVORITE DRUMMER: Wow, there are so many today... Steve Gadd, Steve Smith, Weckl, Vinnie, Bozzio etc, etc, etc.

MY MUSIC STYLES: Mostly Classic Rock, Country and Blues, but I've been known to break a few molds.

MY SUPPORT/MENTOR: I got a great deal of help and support from three guys when I was younger. In school I picked the brain of Reg Sansom who was in a band that played in our school auditorium on Friday afternoons. My cousin's neighbour Walter Young showed me a few things when I was starting out, and Wayne Blanchard (formerly of Sabian) was a big influence on me as a teenager. He answered endless questions and offered advice, tips and occasionally some used gear.

MY STORY: It's all on my website.

GEAR: - I'm currently using a four-piece set of Ludwig Classics, scaled down from a six-piece due to limited transportation space. My cymbals are all Sabian, in various sizes and series, according to the room and style of music. Hardware is Gibraltar in the 8600 series because it's light and small.
