i think he meant marketing the right thing to the right market. an example would be playing chopin at a country western bar. or booking a metal band for a cocktail party. failure will happen! you need to know your market.

Pie in the sky I guess you could also say. It could also refer to some of the genres that show up at Jazz festivals.
I remeber the year they had Kenhy G there at that festival. pretty ill fit really.
