I use my iPod to listen to music while playing. It is hard to use earbuds under ear protection(ear muffs). So I was wondering how Skull Candy Headband Headphones would work for playing along with music? or should I get something like Beyer Dynamic? thoughts?

When it comes to hearing what needs to be heard when sitting at the kit I use my studio full earphones for anything I'm plugging into. At the moment those happen to be Audio Technica ATH-M40fs. I'd rather be using what I use in the studios while recording than having to get used to different phones for different applications. They take down the live kit noise pretty effectiviely without actually shutting the kit right out. I'm sure you'll have some more tags on this one and that there will be a lot of different suggestions in the next little while.

I use a pair of sony studio headphones. They do the same as Roger described with his. You would be best with studio cans like that for optimal sound without totally losing the drums.

I ended up trying the Vic Firth Stereo Isolation Headphones - they seem to work well but -from comments from other drummers were not to turn up volume to much. They are not overly comfortably but were middle of the road on the price
thanks for help
