Kaces drum bags
      #47093 - Tue Nov 09 2010 04:43 AM (99.192.40.47)

Hi everyone!

A while back I posted that I was in the market for a set of bags for my drums. The old Nomad cases that I bought when my drums were new in 1997 have too many miles on them and they're too big and clunky to fit into my new, smaller vehicle. I opted to go with bags from a company called Kaces, made by Ace Products. While the bass drum bag is on back order, the rest of them are everything I was expecting and more.

The tom bags, especially the floor tom bag, fit like the manufacturer took measurements of my drums! The mounted tom is not quite so perfect since I use the Purecussion Rims mount which pushes out a bit further than the bag is designed to accept. There is no strain on the bag really, it's just very snug and slightly oblong in shape when the drum is inside.

The cymbal bag is pretty standard since I ordered the basic model, but it offers reinforced bottom padding inside and out.

I got the surprise of my life when I unpacked the stick bag. This thing is MASSIVE! If I ever manage to completely fill it, I won't be able to lift it! Inside are several large compartments for sticks, mallets, brushes, screwdrivers, and wrenches etc... Well maybe not screwdrivers and wrenches, but there is room for them if you're so inclined. Also inside are two zippered pockets for tuning keys, ear plugs, moon gel, and more. Again, these pockets have ample room. Outside, there are two HUGE pockets for sheet music, books, and who knows what else could be stored in there. The largest of these pockets is divided into three separate sections.

All bags are heavily padded and all the seams and zippers look well stitched. They are listed as "water resistant" which comes in handy in rainy weather. While I haven't taken them to a gig yet, I anticipate it will be a pleasant experience when I do.
