I was listening to a clock ticking the other day and started grooving... you know, it's something inside...

I wish I could play with the groove I can feel, though -- my playing is so stiff, most of the time... Relaxing is such hard work!

I do the clock jam all the time. Along with any other beat I hear. I find myself "knocking" to background music all the time.

And relaxing is the fun part of music. You just have to almost be in character and just let the music flow. Its like you have practice, where you hone your skills, introduce new licks, work on chops, whatever. And then there's performance, where you just let go of everything and become apart of the song. You dont think about whether or not your slicing your left hand, or hitting the center of the drum or even if your playing the right part. It all just kinda happens. And the moment you start thinking, it starts to fall apart. At least thats how it goes for me...
