OK. Here it is. I hooked into a set of Falcon doubles last week. I'm sure I'll do a product review here in a little while but at the moment I am still on the ceiling and quite a bit over-excited over these babies so I'd better calm down and be coherant when I get serious. Meanwhile I have only one thing to say about them. Best damned pedals I have ever played in my life. Plus of course the fact that the main side hooks directly up to my Janus transmission hi-hat if I want. But really putting that aside, these babies are screamers and beautifully built.

I priced them through our local retailer.... VERY pricey! Maybe Santa Clause will read this and help out. lol

Well let's see. Tama speed cobra single here is $195.00. The Falcon is $220.00. Let's not get into the prices for the DW9000 single or the Pearl Demon. The Falcons are a totally different animal. They are finshed better by far, use Inox in the frames and in the cross shaft and the innovations in design and performance put them in the same league as pedals twice their price. On top of everything else, I've played every darned pedal of any make or design since the late 40s and these puppies are the best balanced pedal I have ever played on. As a matter of fact I bought a set of doubles for two reasons. I needed an extra set of pedals for the teaching studio and they also hook up to my Janus hi-hat transmission stand as if they were made for it. However, as I play them I realize they are also the most user friendly pedals I have ever played. They can be fully adjustable right from the drummer's throne. In the back where usually there is very little lighting down on the floor, I can do anything I want with them no problem. They also want to move forward in inertia all the time instread of having to get them up to speed and then hold the velocity while playing because of the way they are designed. They are not some new ultra designed machine that takes darned near an engineering degree to master. I've even changed the chain to strap on the fly between tunes. Takes about one minute from the drum throne. Basicaly, these pedals are conventional in design but thought out extremely well and finished like a high end luxury auto. Mapex have actually found a way to improve on a well tried and true pedal design that everyone recognizes and then put really high end components into the pedal. When Mapex cut loose the Janus division I wasn't sure they knew what they were really doing as to quality but I do now. These babies are the children of the Janus Ergo pedals and believe me, these pedals are Janus on steroids. Easy to adjust, easy to play and designed to handle anything under the sun musically. All I know is that my speed, definition in notes and comfort in playing has improved without me having to do a darned thing. But then again, that's just me. They work more than exremely well for me in what I do. They look darned good too and that makes a difference to me. In other words for me they are tough as nails, will not corrode in this climate, are easily serviced, come with all the sane modifications you need these days and above all else move like lightening and you don't have to muscle them up there to where you are playing. On top of that they are easily serviced and parts are plentiful to say the least. Simply, I love them! I can feather at warp speed if I want and then come on like a battleship at warp speed and force. They are not finnicky, they just do the job needed when called on. And there you have it I guess. That I suppose is my review of these new gems. Well worth the extra few dollars I would say and those dollars aren't very much more than others and less than more than a few. I've always known that the secret to the balance in the drum set is in the feet and these babies give me that balance.
