My bass player would hit me if I played that!

Yep, there are quite a few bass players here who would get a little ornery if this was played at them. However, putting all that aside, that's pretty cool stuff.

In a way, I think I'm lucky because my bass player is too loud to hear me and the rest of the guys wouldn't notice until I brought it back to straight time. Then they'd be thinking, "I must be losing it. Something was weird for a minute there." LOL. I love my band, they're so easy to play pranks on.

You DO know that around here, I am sometimes called, "the drummer that plays in spite of bass players".

Haha... No, I hadn't heard that, but I know you well enough to know that you play in spite of ANYTHING! In truth, I like my bass player; he's a good kid and he plays well enough, but he's rather limited in both experience and diversity. He doesn't really have much in "tracking" skills; he's all but silent on anything he's not intimately familiar with, which makes pulling out some of the old standards unlikely.
