Gemini 241 anyone ?????????
      #47571 - Tue Nov 01 2011 05:49 AM (216.8.149.197)

It is a SINGLE pedal with 2 beaters. Heel down hits one stroke, toe down hits another. The 1996 inventor just happens to live on MY STREET.

It is different than the Dualist. The Dualist is a real cheater, because you get 2 strokes for 1 but the Gemini is a heel-toe pedal. You only get extra strokes when you hit the heel pad.

Not my cup of tea. I've actually tried a Gemini. I guess I'm too steeped in the traditional bass pedal approach and if I need doubles I use either my Janus transmission setup or I use my new Falcon setup. In the traditional doubles setup I play with my hi-hat pedal inside the slave pedal. Seems to work the best for me. The Janus transmission of course uses the hi-hat pedal board on a deraileur setup to work the slave side. I imagine some cats would love the Gemini setup. But I need to have a lot of power and speed at times in the bass drum so the traditional type pedals work the best for me. I FEEL the bass drum batter head better with the front of my feet I guess. I found the Gemini was really nice when using double bass figures in fills, not really good for extended rhytmical passages in tunes, especially when those passages need accents within the lines played.

Thanks Roger for the feedback. Sorry that it took me so long to get back. As to the strength issue, it is probably like everything.... strength will come with practice. It will be a whole new bag of tricks, with new muscle groups and muscle memory. I'm short of cash now, but I can get one new from the engineer for $250, which I think is a bargain considering that it is made like a tank and responds beautifully.

If I never use it on a single gig, I figure that it can help develop some ROCKING muscles in my foot.

It would be cool if the heel pedal idea could be used as part of the left foot pedal (on a standard double kick pedal setup). This is because.. sometimes (if I'm even using a double pedal) I play the hihat with my left toes and throw in double pedal kicks with my left heel. It allows me to open and close the hats while playing double kick at the same time.. If the pedal had a heel attachment it would make it a lot easier to pull this off.. I usually have to target the main board of the pedal with my heel which is a bit awkward ergonomically.. but it does work.

BTW I have tried the hihat 'throw-off' attachments but I'm not a fan..
