Hello everyone!
I've been "lurking" on this site for a while now... finally decided to officially participate and post! My name is Bryan and I'm a drum teacher and player in Ontario, CANADA. While I don't live in a musical "mecca" of any kind, I love playing and teaching and have been doing it full time for the past 6 years!
I play in a Latin jazz trio which covers a lot of Michel Camilo tunes. He is one of my favorite pianists and I love the energy of his tunes and the challenge they present to play them! We are hoping to release a CD of original compositions by next year.
If anyone would like to check out my website for some audio and video of my band as well as info. and pictures here's the linkage:

In terms of my drumming influences and inspirations, like many people, these include Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd and Dennis Chambers. I also find the newer crop of intense players like Virgil Donati, Thomas Lang and Marco Minneman to be incredibly inspirational as well.
Here is a short clip of myself playing a Weckl inspired solo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr2YlYORjbY
This is a great site! Great to be able to get to know other drum "geeks"!!! (meant in a very good way!) Thanks for letting me introduce myself! Bryan

Fantastic Weckl style solo. I noticed you even came close to the tuning with the exception of the snare which was a bit more open. Weckl like many I'm sure, is one of my favorite drummers. I also find his recorded drum sound to be one of the best. Again great job.

Hi Folks! Haven't been on the site in a long time... finally have the time to participate more! I just posted some lessons on my website that some of you may like (?)... here is the linkage:
http://drumhead.ca/articles.htm
Both lessons involve development of advanced coordination to access unique sounds. One is inspired by the playing of Magella Cormier, and the other inspired by Vinnie!
Let me know what you think! Bryan
