Thank you so much for your reply. I let him read your message and he understood. We have loads of mallets that will be better for use on this instrument, so thankfully I don't have to make another purchase. I am buying him a 4 mallet method book, since he's aiming toward DCI in the future.

Again, thanks! Kids often need to hear things from people other than their parents to believe them.
