And Im so proud to be here~~~! Ive been posting on here for some time but never really introduced myself. Im almost 62...On September 14, 2010 that age becomes official ( and I become eligible for my social security early retirement benefits ). I am a US Army Vietnam era combat veteran and have been playing drums since 1964. I am also a Choctaw Indian Tribal member as is my beautiful wife of 12 years. We have no children together but I claim her two daughters and their children as my own plus one small dog whose name is Zipper Wright. Currently, Im playing a Yamaha Power V Special 8 piece kit with power toms, however I split the kit into a 5 piece house gig kit and a 4 piece road kit ( with the addition of a full set of a Pearl Free Floating Maple 6 1/2 x 14 Snare, cymbals and accessories ). Yesterday, I ordered a brand spankin new Yamaha Red Oak Custom shell kit with 10" - 12" - 14" racks and a 16" floor and a 22" kick. The snare I play on the house gig is a brand new Pearl 14 x 6 1/2 Free Floating Copper shell that is just marvelous. Zildjian hi end cymbals are on my stands and my hi hat is the new Gibraltar Ultra-Adjust hi hat stand and the hat cymbals are the new Zildjian 14 1/4" K Custom Hybrids and my closed set of hats are Zildjian New Beats. I also sing quite a lot...lead vocals as well as harmony vocals. I have worked with this 5 (used to be 6 till one member retired last month) piece dance band since 2000. We play a wide variety of dance music; Traditional Country, Older 50s and early 60s rock, Cajun Zydeco, Big Band Swing and Western Swing and a few of the more recent top 40 Country tunes (those I sing). I am a self-taught player and I play most any type of dance music from Classic Rock to lite club jazz and a lot of stuff in-between the two. The drum kit pictured is what my kit will look like, minus my 14" rack and my Pearl Free Floating Copper snare. Can you tell Im excited~~~YES I AM~~~ To view my pics: Go to the link below and then click on Photos. Ive got a few of me on my "road kit" and a group pic of the "Well Rounded --Country Wranglers Dance Band " as well as pic of the Yamaha Red Oak Custom kit, minus the 14'rack I have coming as well as my Pearl Copper Free Floater.
