It fits between the tuning lug washer and the rim...there are two brackets that hold it. It sticks up maybe 1/8" to no more than a 1/4" above the rim of your snare. It makes doing cross stick rimshots somewhat easier and gives a nice click. They have several different models...some with jingles and other noise maker inserts.
