Tiger Bill on TV
TV & Radio Spots in Promotion of NAMM Music and Sound Expo and World's Fastest Drummer Competition in Minneapolis, MN
In April of 2004, Tiger Bill flew out to the twin cities to promote the NAMM Music and Sound Expo and the World's Fastest Drummer Competition.
This was the first time that NAMM, the International Music Products Association, opened the show to educator's and the general public. It was held in conjunction with the National Biennial Conference of MENC, the National Association for Music Education. More than 250 exhibitors showed off their latest gadgets at the show to thousands of musicians, those who were just starting out and seasoned pros alike.
The WFD drew the lion's share of media attention with Tiger Bill promoting the event on Fox affiliate KMSP's 9 News Morning Show (TV), CBS affiliate WCCO's 4 Morning Show (TV), 93X Radio's "HalfAssed Morning Show," and the Twin Cities newspaper, Pioneer Press.
Following are video clips taken from some of the TV shows featuring Tiger Bill. In the first clip, you'll notice the TV anchor refers to the Tiger as 'Wild' Bill. Where he got that from, we'll never know!
Note: The Official WFD rankings are constantly changing. For the latest updates, see the WFD in the sidebar.

A word from Tiger Bill:
I had a blast promoting the Expo and hosting the NAMM Fastest Drummer Competition during the five days I spent in Minneapolis. I also had the chance to hang with Boo (and Laura) McAfee and Craig (and Deana) Alan who began the World's Fastest Drummer Competition as a grass roots effort, which has since been picked up by NAMM. Not Bad!
Without Boo and Craig and their little invention known as the Drumometer, there would be no Fastest Drummer Competition and drummers around the world would be missing out on a great thing. You see the best thing about the competition isn't whether you win, it's what you can learn to improve your technique along the way.
So thanks guys, for the Drumometer, and thanks for inviting me out to host the show. I'd also like to thank NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond, Scott Robertson, and the rest of the crew from NAMM and the Music Edge. And, last but certainly not least, thank you Breanna, Charlotte, and Heather from the Maccabee Group (PR firm for the event), for setting up the radio and TV spots. I had a real blast!
And the Winners Are....
The coolest thing about each Fastest Drummer Competition is that the constestants don't have to compete
against other WFD Champs or break their existing records to win. All they have to do is be the fastest
contestant at the particular event, which isn't always so easy either, well worth the effort.
The winners get to divy up $12,000 in prizes!
Congratulations to the winners of the NAMM Music and Sound Expo Fastest Drummer Competition 2004: Chris Melius of Windsor, WI won The Battle of the Hands with a score of 907 single strokes, while 2nd place went to Kelly Lima with a score of 899 and 3rd place was Troy Hommerding at 869. Winner of The Battle of the Feet contest went to Scott Kautzer of Niles, MI with a foot score of 838. Second place went to Eric Geier with a score of 748 and third place went to Dean Weisser with a score of 734.
Over $12,000 in prizes were provided by Pearl, Meinl, Pro-Mark, Axis pedals, Remo, Mad Player, Drumometer, Warner Bros., and laser engraver Tim Byrd.
